LGMA NSW Leadership for Sustainability Member Network
The LGMA NSW Leadership for Sustainability Member Network has the following objectives:
- to provide support for and between local government professionals from around the state who are steering or supporting their organisations to work towards positive outcomes in all matters pertaining to sustainability for both future and current generations - particularly in the management of governance, community wellbeing, ecology, infrastructure and economic viability;
- to bring together local government professionals working on corporate planning and those working on sustainability - who may have traditionally worked apart - to engage with and support one another;
- to provide a forum for participants to share information and experience as the local government corporate sector drives sustainability planning and reporting within growing concerns and consciousness about sustainability, equity and resources and;
- to provide participants with access to professionals working in private sector/change management/other government agencies/similar professions who are also addressing the challenges of our changing world in their workplace.
The Network provides participants with space and time for shared learning, support and gaining understanding of:
- the complexity of the systems of sustainability within limited ecological resources and;
- the challenges and opportunities that our organisations might expect from climate change and DLG planning and reporting legislation and guidelines within growing concerns and consciousness about sustainability, equity and resources.
Leadership for Sustainability Network participants are committed to learning about and working for a just community, dealing with the challenges facing local government and our environment and demonstrating leadership for sustainability within their own organisations.
