LGMA NSW has fostered the development of Member Networks to facilitate the networking of local government professionals with like interests.

 

A brief outline on the various Member Networks follows.  Further information can be obtained by clicking on the links on the left hand menu.

 

Community Services Professionals  Member Network was formed recently with a new charter and executive. The goal of the Member Network is to provide leadership, advocacy, information, learning and support to local government community services professionals and individuals who have a connection to community services issues. It will provide research, networking and professional development opportunities to the sector. It is committed to best practice for community services professionals and policy formation through LGMA NSW.

 

Integrated Planners Member Network covers a wide area of interest including management planning issues, organisational performance, state of the environment reporting, grant seeking, benchmarking, management and/or annual reports, and quality/best practice. One of the main aims of the network is to provide a regular forum for sharing ideas or concerns in the above areas that are not readily or suitably addressed by other groups.

 

Local Government Finance Professionals Member Network aims to support, promote and develop Local Government Finance Professionals and promote the professional image and recognition of finance professionals in the industry. The Group hosts an annual conference and supports a number of regional networking groups.

Golden Oldies Member Network

Governance Network  Member Network is open to any person with a special interest in governance issues. The group provides an effective forum for members to further their professional development, contacts and knowledge. Some of the issues discussed by the Group recently include access to information, meeting procedure, codes of conduct, legislative change, elections, policies and procedures, councillor support, delegations of authority, complaint handling and copyright.

 

Human Resource Professionals  Member Network purpose is to actively engage in the debate of Human Resource issues, to stimulate discussion, generate new ideas and drive change through channelling opinions and advice to appropriate bodies, developing professional standards and guidelines and providing networking and knowledge sharing opportunities.

 

IT Professionals  Member Network has been established as a result of the desire to set up a group, independent of the specific IT supplier orientated user groups, to help foster a co-ordinated approach across local government to IT. Their main aim is to co-operatively move local government information technology into the future - membership is aimed mainly at IT Professionals in local government, but is also open to any staff members involved in the oversight/development of IT in local government.

 

Leadership for Sustainability Network  MemberNetwork participants are committed to learning about and working for a just community, dealing with the challenges facing local government and our environment and demonstrating leadership for sustainability within my own organisation. Participants work together to build their knowledge, skills and perspectives regarding sustainability and the local government sector with the intent of improving management practices and influencing sustainability within their workplace and the sector.

 

Young Professionals in Local Government  Memer Network aims to provide opportunities for Young Professionals to discuss, debate and progress issues, provide a professional network that is creative and interactive; support career planning and mentoring.

 

Professional Women Local Government  Memer Network aims to provide opportunities for Professional Women to discuss and progress issues relating to women in Local Government and to provide networking and mentoring opportunities.
