NSW Local Government Sustainability Health Check

All NSW councils can now assess the extent to which sustainability practices and procedures are in place across their organisations and community thanks to the NSW Local Government Sustainability Health Check.

The NSW Local Government Sustainability Health Check is a key tool for integrated planning and reporting as well as issues based assessment and should be placed in your corporate planning and reporting calendar.

An initiative of LGMA NSW addressing social, governance, economic, ecological and built environment (human habitat) concerns for council and the community, the NSW Local Government Sustainability Health Check was developed by Sustainable Futures Australia for Local Government Managers Australia, NSW (LGMA) and the NSW Department of Environment and Conservation.

There are two parts to the check: looking at council's management and operational areas as well as its relationships to progress sustainability. The other half takes an outcomes based approach to ecology society, economy, human habitat and governance.

Benefiting from extensive input from NSW councils, the Sustainability Health Check Package provides a robust assessment of your own councils performance across multiple bottom lines and provides you with an action plan to move forward.
