About the LGMA NSW Women in Local Government Forum

The LGMA NSW Women in Local Government Forum is local government’s premier one day forum for women in leadership. The NSW Government is committed to promoting increased participation of women in leadership and decision making roles across the state. LGMA NSW is firmly behind this initiative and are committed to being the change agents for improving the engagement of women in the local government sector.

About the Programme

This year’s theme - Change Agents for Women in Local Government will educate, inspire and empower women in their personal and professional lives. Delegates will have the opportunity to hear from industry leaders through keynote plenary sessions and panel discussions and to share their knowledge and techniques through group work and networking opportunities.

Who Should Attend

This forum attracts delegates from councils across NSW including General Managers, Senior Managers and Aspiring Managers.Both men and women aspiring to create change in local government.

Dimity Hodge
Head of Women in Leadership, Diversity and Flexibility, Westpac
Dimity Hodge is currently on secondment from the Westpac Group to the Australian Human Rights Commission for six months. At Westpac, Dimity is the Head of Women in Leadership. In this role she focuses on increasing the percentage of women in leadership across the bank – and delivering the diversity & flexibility strategy. Prior to joining Westpac, Dimity gained broad based corporate and consulting experience with Qantas, Ansett, Accenture, EnergyAustralia and The Guinness Group in both corporate strategy and organisation development roles.

Lara Kirchner
General Manager, City of Botany Bay
Lara is one of a handful of female General Managers in the local government sector, hear her story about her career path, the challenges and advantages of being a women in a 'mans world' and her advice for aspiring women leaders.

In this workshop, we will be considering the factors enabling women’s roles in leadership roles generally, and reflecting on these in the context of local government.

Getting There


Driving
The Swiss-Grand Resort & Spa, Bondi Beach is only 15 minutes from the heart of Sydney. For driving directions to the hotel please visit http://www.whereis.com/. The hotel has plenty Secure Parking. Please click here to view.

Public Transport
Bondi Beach can be reached from the centre of Sydney on bus numbers 380, 333 (prepay only), 382 and 389 (you must change buses at Bondi Junction). You can also get the train to Bondi Junction, and then either walk or catch a bus onto Bondi Beach.
Buses run to the beach at 10 minute intervals or better all day from Bondi Junction. The railway station at Bondi Junction is about 2 kilometres back from the beach.  All buses from the beach to the city go via the railway station at Bondi Junction.
