What this program offers

  • Each year LGMA NSW offers three members the opportunity of a lifetime to participate in our International Exchange Programs

  • The International Exchange Programs provide members with an interest in a long term career in local government, the opportunity to apply to travel to the USA or New Zealand

  • Attend a City Manager Conference, interact with their colleagues from abroad and gain valuable insights into the workings of local government in their cities

  • Return economy airfares provided to successful recipients of the scholarship

Exchange participants benefit from not only travelling and learning from the host city that they stay at, but also through their involvement in assisting the reciprocal visitor’s program which includes attending our LGMA NSW Annual Conference.

Here's what a past exchange had to say about their time in the USA:

“The experience of being in California and observing their path to cleaner and greener technology was very rewarding. The sharing of knowledge about my study tour subject and just general information about local government was truly valuable."

* Please note you will need to be a financial member of LGMA NSW for more than 12 months to be eligible to apply for this program
